Antikode Sub Ops today announced a design win with a major Korean automotive Tier-2 supplier for the next-generation battery management system (BMS) controller targeting electric-vehicle and plug-in hybrid platforms. The Antikode RV-32IM core, in its automotive-qualified configuration, will serve as the management MCU on the controller ASIC.
The target part will be qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 (operating range -40 °C to +125 °C ambient) and ASIL-B per ISO 26262, with safety mechanisms including dual-core lock-step on the management MCU, ECC-protected SRAMs, end-to-end protection on critical buses, and a periodic self-test sequence covering ALU, register file, and pipeline control. Tape-out is scheduled for Q3 2026 on TSMC 28nm HPC+, with production volumes expected to begin in mid-2027.
The win brings the cumulative shipped volume of designs using Antikode IP to over 220 million units across consumer, industrial, and now automotive markets — a milestone for an Indonesian fabless design house and the first time the RV-32IM has been qualified into an automotive-safety design context.
What this means for the broader roadmap
Automotive qualification work feeds back into the public RV-32IM product line. Several of the safety mechanisms developed for this engagement — particularly lock-step support and the documented FMEDA template — will become standard options in the next public release, available to any licensee under their existing terms. We expect this to lower the entry barrier for other industrial and medical customers who need functional-safety credentials but do not need full automotive certification.
The customer name is held under NDA per standard automotive supplier practice and will not be disclosed publicly. Licensees evaluating the automotive-qualified RV-32IM configuration may request the safety manual and FMEDA template via our partnerships team.
